Professor Jodie Plumert, and Starch Faculty fellow in the University of Iowa’s Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences, has been appointed as the Russell B. Day and Florence D. Day Chair in Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Congratulations to Professors Jason Radley and Ryan LaLumiere, who were recently awarded a five-year $2.3 million grant from the National Institute of Mental Health.

Professor Ryan LaLumiere was recently awarded the 2022-2023 Graduate College Outstanding Faculty Mentor Award.

Professor Ryan LaLumiere was recently named a 2023-2025 Collegiate Scholar in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The award is for two consecutive fiscal years and includes a one-time $2000 discretionary fund that can be used for professional reasons that are within University restrictions.

Professor Jan Wessel was one of four University of Iowa faculty members selected as a recipient of the Iowa Mid-Career Faculty Scholar Award for 2023.

Ashley Lie-Atjam, who will receive a BS in neuroscience from the University of Iowa in May 2023, is the winner of a Graduate Study Fulbright/Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam Award for 2023-24. 

Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences assistant professors Amanda McCleery and Bengi Baran, trained respectively in clinical psychology and neuroscience, have launched a program to help anyone in the University of Iowa community experiencing negative mental health symptoms.
