Evidence-Based and Culturally Responsive Care

Our commitment to training emphasizes the use of evidence-based and culturally responsive practices. We use assessment tools that have been shown to be reliable and valid for your specific needs. We use treatments that have been shown to be effective for your specific concerns. We provide culturally responsive care that strives to understand you as a whole person.

Services we do not provide: Because we are a small training clinic, we have expertise in and specialize in some services. This means that we do not provide every type of assessment or treatment, so it is sometimes necessary to refer people to other agencies. For instance, we do not provide specialty services for Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), court-ordered evaluations, crisis services, or integrated medical care (e.g., psychiatric medications management).

Getting Started

We accept referrals from people seeking services and from other providers and professionals.

When you first reach out to us, our staff will briefly gather information about what you are seeking over the telephone. Once the clinic director has reviewed this information, we will let you know if we can provide the services that you are seeking. If so, you are added to our waitlist. Once a clinician becomes available, the clinician will contact you.

Waitlist Status

Because we are a small training clinic, the number of people who reach out to us at times exceed our capacity. We open our waitlists when we anticipate having capacity to provide the service within a reasonable time. Otherwise, we close our waitlists.

  • Adult Assessment: Open

  • Adult Therapy: Open

  • Child Assessment: Open

  • Child Therapy: Closed

Procedures

When an individual calls the clinic to seek services or make a referral, a brief application is taken over the telephone. The clinic director determines whether the case is appropriate for the clinic and assigns the case to a specific graduate student and supervisor. The assigned student then contacts the client and makes an appointment for the initial interview.

All clients, including those seeking psychotherapy, undergo a psychological evaluation that includes interviews and a series of psychological tests. Clients receiving therapy are asked to participate in post-therapy and follow-up assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment.
