Dr. Darcy Diesburg was recently awarded the 2022 D.C. Spriestersbach Dissertation Prize in the Social Sciences in recognition her doctoral dissertation: “Conceptualizing Mechanisms of Human Movement Cancellation within a Pause-then-Cancel Model of Motor Inhibition.” As the winner of the Spriestersbach Dissertation Prize, Dr. Diesburg will receive $2,500 and was selected as the University of Iowa's nominee in the national competition for the 2022 Council of Graduate Schools/ProQuest Distinguished Dissertation Award.

The D.C. Spriestersbach Dissertation Prize was established to recognize excellence in doctoral research.  Spriestersbach prizes are awarded annually in two of four broad disciplinary areas-Humanities and Fine Arts, Mathematical and Physical Sciences, and Engineering, Biological and Life Sciences, and Social Sciences. The Graduate College, in turn, holds two D.C. Spriestersbach Prize competitions in the areas specified by the Council of Graduate Schools.

Dr. Diesburg earned her Ph.D. from the Department of  Psychological and Brain Sciences in 2022. Congratulations again to Dr. Diesburg on her accomplishment.
