Professor Molly Nikolas has received the 2021 Midcareer Support Award from the Society for Research in Adolescence, which funds midcareer scholars to help further productivity and career advancement. This award will support Dr. Nikolas’s work examining mechanisms that link individual differences in pubertal timing and maturation to increases in mood and behavioral problems during early adolescence. This research will incorporate psychophysiological and behavioral measures of cognitive and emotion regulation as well as ambulatory assessment methods of real-world changes in mood and behavior to better understand why early pubertal maturation is associated with increased risk for mental health problems in youth.
