Dr. Victor Navarro was just named the winner of the 2022 Society for the Experimental Analysis of Behavior (SEAB) Basic Behavior Analysis Dissertation Award from Division 25 (Behavior Analysis) of the American Psychological Association. Dr. Navarro’s research in Professor Ed Wasserman’s laboratory creatively extended Kenneth Spence’s analysis of a simple learning situation to far more intricate associative networks, like those that are common to complex human cognition and language. Dr. Navarro found that the nature of those associative networks profoundly affects the contributions of excitation and inhibition to discrimination learning—but, in dramatically different ways for humans and nonhuman animals.

Dr. Navarro’s dissertation committee included Professors Ed Wasserman (advisor), John Freeman, Eliot Hazeltine,  Bob McMurray, and Shaun Vecera.
