Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Clinical Science at the Rank of Assistant or Associate Professor
The Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of Iowa invites applications for a faculty position in Clinical Science at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The Clinical Science program, ranked in the top 25 nationally, embraces rigorous, integrative, and cross- disciplinary efforts to reduce the burden of mental illness and improve public health. We invite applications from candidates with outstanding research records who work within any sub-area of clinical science, whether formally clinically trained or not. We are especially interested in candidates who do research at the intersection of biological and psychological processes and/or incorporate multiple levels of analysis (e.g., genetics, neuroscience, behavior, cognition). We are also interested in candidates who are open to collaborative opportunities across other areas of strength in the Department, including developmental science, cognitive neuroscience, and learning and memory.

The University of Iowa is a leading public university located in Iowa City, a midsize community with a high quality of life. Our Department is experiencing vigorous growth and enhancement, including construction of a new Psychological and Brain Sciences Building that opens in January 2020 and the recent renovation of Stuit Hall, which houses Clinical Science faculty labs and the Seashore Psychology Clinic. An NIH-funded Behavioral and Biomedical Interface Training Program, spearheaded by Clinical Science faculty, supports integrative and cross-disciplinary training opportunities. The University maintains the Institute for Clinical and Translational Science, which aims to catalyze innovative clinical and translational research. The University is also making substantial investments in neuroscience—already a large community with more than 100 faculty members across five colleges and 26 departments—including the recent founding of the Iowa Neuroscience Institute and the creation of an undergraduate major in neuroscience. The DeLTA Center brings together a vibrant campus-wide community of researchers interested in all aspects of learning and development.
There are extensive opportunities for collaboration with researchers in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the Carver College of Medicine, the College of Education, and the College of Public Health. Departmental faculty have ongoing collaborations with colleagues in Psychiatry, Neurology, Pharmacology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center. The university also supports a variety of state-of-the-art research facilities, including the Iowa Magnetic Resonance Facility, which includes 3T and 7T scanners, the Central Microscopy Research Facility, and the Iowa Institute of Human Genetics.
