  • Congratulations to Marco Pipoly on being awarded the 2022 Kwak-Ferguson Fellowship

    Congratulations to Marco Pipoly on being awarded the 2022 Kwak-Ferguson Fellowship, a $10,000 award from the Iowa Neuroscience Institute for an upper level graduate student working in the area of neurodegenerative diseases.

    Marco’s research seeks to understand how the aging brain organizes itself and adapts in order to continue meeting everyday demands. His thesis work uses fMRI and cognitive control tasks to better understand the role of brain networks in maintaining cognitive function as we age. His career goal is to uncover the neural mechanisms of cognitive reserve, aging, and the biological basis of prolonged cognitive health.

  • Congratulations to Arshaq on his INI summer fellowship!

    Arshaq Saleem received a 2021 Iowa Neuroscience Institute (INI) Summer Scholar Award! The INI Summer Scholar Program supports Iowa undergraduates planning to pursue research during the summer in the lab of an INI faculty member. As INI Summer Scholars, the students receive a stipend of $5,000 and have the opportunity to attend a summer undergraduate seminar series and a variety of informal events. Arshaq's research project involves understanding the role of cerebellar connectivity in mood disorders, which is a collaborative project with Dr. Vince Magnotta in Psychiatry.
