Seminars

Attendance at BBIP seminars is required for all students in the training program and is restricted to students and faculty of the BBIP.  Starting in Fall 2022, seminars will be held in Spence 101. We meet at 4 pm every 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month. If you are interested in attending a seminar, please contact program director Susan Lutgendorf.

Past Events

  • Preparing for the academic job market panel

    February 24, 2022 - 4:00pm to 5:00pm

    The panel will include research scientists and faculty members who are currently or were recently on the job market. Panel members will discuss their experiences and answer questions from the current trainees.

  • Graduate Research Fellowships Panel

    February 10, 2022 - 4:00pm to 5:00pm

    The panel will include current students and alumni who recently received NSF GRFP and NIH NRSA fellowships. The fellowship awardees will talk about their experiences in applying for the grant and answer questions from current trainees.

  • Welcome back break-outs

    January 27, 2022 - 4:00pm to 5:00pm

    The goal of this seminar is to reorient to the Spring semester through some polls about spring programming, break-out rooms for connecting with your cohort, and break-out rooms to develop career trajectory and professional development questions for our guests. Break-out rooms for students and faculty will give space to each to develop questions, with the goal of developing a guide for topics & questions that future guest speakers will be sent before their seminar talk.

  • BBIP round-table on resilience

    November 30, 2021 - 5:15pm

    Informal round-table with a discussion to revisit topics introduced at the Fall retreat on developing resilience in graduate school.
