WELCOME!

Welcome to the Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences Child Research Participant Registry! As you know, Iowa is a place to grow, and the University of Iowa has a long-standing tradition of excellence in studying how children develop, from birth through adolescence. With the help of families like yours, our faculty and students conduct cutting-edge research, which helps to inform parents and practitioners about typical and atypical child development. On this site, you will find links to our child development labs, and information about some of the research we're currently doing with children of all ages. If you would like to have your child join the Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences Child Research Participant Registry, please click on the JOIN TODAY button at the top of this page. Once again, welcome!

HOW TO REGISTER

When you click on the JOIN TODAY button, you will be directed to a page with the parental consent form for the Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences Child Research Participant Registry. After reading the consent form, you can click on a button at the bottom of the page to agree to have your child to join the registry. You will then be directed to another page with the registration form. All information is kept confidential, and will be stored offsite on a secure, encrypted server. Registering your child does not commit you to participate in a research study - it simply allows us to store your contact information, so that we may contact you about exciting new research opportunities as they become available. You are free to decline participation in any study, and you may request that your contact information be removed from our registry at any time, for any reason.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I REGISTER?

Thank you for registering your child with the Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences Child Research Participant Registry! Researchers conducting studies in your child's age range will contact you by letter or email as research opportunities become available. Most studies involve a visit of one hour or less to one of our labs in Spence Laboratories of Psychology, located on the corner of Iowa Ave. and Gilbert St. We look forward to meeting you and your child!
